Getting out there again

Sunshine on Leith

Hello,

I've had a really good week! Let me elaborate. I spent the first half of this year pretty stressed out - I would not recommend buying a flat amidst job insecurity. My number one coping mechanism for stress is usually doing exercise outside, and preferably in the form of walking up a hill with Sarah. But because Sarah had a leg injury for months, we've not really been able to do that at all (I have been staying somewhat sane through running). Finally, this weekend, we got out there doing what we like doing best: sitting on a Lothian bus for about an hour in order to set foot into our beloved Pentlands. I described the feeling of finally walking again as "a hug for the soul". The sun was nowhere to be seen while we were walking on the hills, but as soon as we got home, there she was. This has to be one of my favourite things about the new flat: direct sunshine!

We promptly fell asleep right there on the carpet - I would not have guessed this was comfortable, but I suppose we were pretty tired.

So there's one reason I've had a good week - the other is that I've had a bit of time off, and thus been able to draw and write the above.

I hope you've got some sunshine where you are,
